Choosing the Right Case for Photographers & Videographers

Your photography and videography gear is a costly investment, and selecting the right case—new or used—ensures it stays protected, organized, and ready for any shoot. Here’s what to consider when choosing your case, with a focus on why photographers and videographers love our high-quality used Pelican cases:

1. Size and Compatibility

Match the case to your gear. For compact setups like mirrorless cameras and lenses, try smaller cases like the Pelican 1450. For larger kits with drones, tripods, or video rigs, opt for models like the Pelican 1550 , 1610, or 1620. Used cases, thoroughly inspected at The Case Place, accommodate camera bodies, lenses, and accessories at a fraction of the cost—up to 50% less than new.

2. Protection Level

Pelican cases, new or used, provide crushproof, waterproof (IP67-rated), and dustproof protection to shield your gear from impacts, moisture, and harsh conditions. Used cases at The Case Place are carefully checked to ensure seals and latches maintain waterproof integrity, offering the same rugged safety as new cases.

3. Portability

For creators on the move, portability is key. The Pelican Storm case, made from lightweight HPX resin, is a favorite among travel photographers and filmmakers for its rugged strength without added weight. Used Pelican Storm cases combine affordability and easy transport, perfect for frequent travelers.

4. Organization

Customizable foam or divider systems keep your DSLR, lenses, flashes, drones, external hard drives, and accessories secure. Many used Pelican cases come with adjustable foam inserts for a tailored fit, while others offer empty interiors for custom padding. Lid organizers are ideal for small items like memory cards or cables.

5. Special Features

Look for cases with pressure equalization valves for drones or microphones, especially for high-altitude shoots. Lockable latches add security for high-value gear. Used cases at The Case Place are professionally inspected to ensure all features meet professional standards.
